What is Coolsculpting

CoolSculpting utilizes the advanced cooling technology known as Cryolipolysis. The science behind cryolipolysis was based on two scientists’ observation that children who eat popsicles develop dimples because cold could selectively kill fat cells in cheeks. From this observation, CoolSculpting Cryolipolysis technique was developed whereas fat cells are cooled which induces apoptosis (natural cell death). These cells would then gradually be eliminated from the body.
             The CoolSculpting technique is non-invasive, meaning knife, needle, anesthesia or suture will not be used! And yet it has been proven that it is an effective way to permanently reduce or eliminate fat from problem areas. However, results are noticeable 2 to 4 months after the procedure and it may take more than one treatment to attain greater reduction of fat layers.
            Compared to invasive liposuction procedures, the results of CoolSculpting is not as fast or dramatic but is rather mild. It is really not an ideal procedure for patients with large amounts of fat to be removed. Also, this procedure doesn't result to weight loss.

CoolSculpting vs. Traditional Liposuction

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive and non-surgical procedure which can help reduce small bulges. A difference between the two is that CoolSculpting is ideal for soft fats while traditional lipo is excellent for thick and fibrous fats.
            One advantage of CoolSculpting over traditional liposuction is that it has no downtime or long recovery period. After a CoolSculpting procedure, one can immediately resume his/her daily activities while in a traditional liposuction treatment, it takes about a week to rest and additional 3-4 weeks before continuing other heavy physical activities.
            Unlike liposuction of which results can be seen immediately, results for CoolSculpting would only be noticeable after 8 to 12 weeks because in this procedure, fat isn't immediately eliminated from the body and it will take weeks for one’s system to remove the fat cells.​
