Side effects of Tumescent Liposuction

After the procedure, flushing and slight temperature elevation may be experienced that would usually last for 24 to 48 hours. Discomfort and muscle soreness (similar to what is felt after a strenuous workout) gets worse on the second day after the surgery. Expect minimal pain and swelling due to the inflammation brought about by the surgical trauma. Minimal bruising may also happen to the treatment site. After a few days, itching can be felt on the treatment areas although this is something not to worry about because it is part of the healing process.

For side effects that seems irregular or lasts for many weeks, it is best to consult your doctor before starting any other treatment.

What are the risks of Tumescent Liposuction?

Although there aren’t many risks associated with tumescent liposuction, the following complications may occur:
            - Lidocaine toxicity which occurs when there’s too much lidocaine added to the tumescent solution which makes it difficult for the body to metabolize this particular medication.
            - Fluid accumulation, especially when too much solution was injected.
            - Infection
            - Skin irregularity, dimpling or loose skin
            - Unacceptable scarring

The risks of having the abovementioned complications will be greatly reduced when the operation is to be performed by a highly experienced and board-licensed plastic surgeon like Dr. Sapijaszko of Youthful Image Clinic.

Is the Tumescent Liposuction procedure effective?

One of the earliest liposuction procedures available, tumescent liposuction is one of the most studied liposuction operations. Studies about tumescent liposuction would usually involve its effectiveness, the processes involved and the operation’s various side effects.

With the numerous studies conducted, tumescent liposuction was shown to be a very effective procedure in removing unwanted fats in virtually almost all areas of the body with localized fat deposits! Success rates of the procedure in delivering results are also high.

Apart from the proven effectiveness of tumescent liposuction, a procedure’s results are maximized whilst risks of complications and side effects are significantly reduced when employing the services of an expert and licensed surgeon.
